· Colour
· Creed or religion
· Race or Ethnic origins

1. Thornhill Construction Ltd defines discrimination as "treating a person less favourably than others are, or would be, treated in the same or similar circumstances".

2. Indirect discrimination will be considered to have been used when a requirement or condition has been applied which, whether intentional or not, adversely affects a considerably larger proportion of one race, sex, or marital status than another, and cannot be justified on grounds other than race, sex, or marital status.

3. The company shall regard discrimination as defined in paragraphs 2 and 3 above, as gross misconduct and will ensure that in the event that any employee discriminates against any other person they will be liable to instant dismissal.

4. Thornhill Construction Ltd will ensure that equal opportunity principles are applied in all of it's personnel policies and in particular in the procedures relating to the recruitment, training, development, and promotion of staff. In applying this policy to the disabled the proviso is that disability does not prevent the function of the job from being performed effectively.
